The year is 2023. TLTIC has produced a pamphlet of poetry and original photography at the G.A.S. (Guest Artist Space) Foundation the year prior. Taking my inquiry a step further, I progress into moving image and an interactive exhibition in the spaces where these images were created.
Two exhibitions held: The first, a ‘remembrance,’ as one of the community residents would term it. Poems from the pamphlet were read by residents and the works shown had created a form of time-travel for the audience. The second, a private viewing for my grandfather.
‘Back On Home Soil’ is the project’s second instalment, seeking to not only pay homage to the birthplace, but also invite its inhabitants into the communion of sharing in finished work from which they were the raw material. It was a quest in making art an accessible item. What does art mean to the local man and how does he react to it, especially if it is engaged in a familiar space and made with a familiar face. All of these events were duly recorded, but adding to my 4 Chapter, 15 minute runtime series, was a rather deeper shredding into the complexities of grief and how we never remain the same when there’s “a glorious home call.”
